# Dataset upload – formats and limits

This page lists supported file formats that you can [upload to your MapTiler account](https://docs-qmgv.pages.dev/guides/adding-data/upload-files/) for hosting and further use. Some formats require processing (tiling) at upload, depending on their type:

-   **Raster files** – files like drone photos, old maps, or charts. Georeferenced files are automatically processed into a **raster tileset**, ready for map use. If your image isn’t georeferenced, you can do it in our [Georeferencer](https://docs-qmgv.pages.dev/guides/georeferencer/).
-   **Vector files** – geographical [vector data](https://docs-qmgv.pages.dev/guides/how-maps-work/vector-feature/) from surveys, GPS logs, and government data. You can import your file as-is and further edit it in our [Vector Data Editor](https://docs-qmgv.pages.dev/guides/vector-data-editor/), or you can process it into a **vector tileset**.
-   **Tilesets** – containers of map tiles generated by another tool. Read-only, no editing. We recommend using clean tilesets produced by [MapTiler Engine](https://docs-qmgv.pages.dev/guides/on-prem/engine/).
